Join the very first episode of Fit Biz U with your host Jill Coleman. Jill is a fitness professional and business coach who effectively made the transition from training clients in person while having no time to build anything else to training clients online and actually becoming more successful. Today, Jill helps other coaches do the same.

In this first episode, Jill shares the specific moment in her past where she realized that “doing more work” is not always synonymous with “making more money” and that this mindset no longer served her. Learn how your limited thoughts influence - in a very precise way – the scarcity revolving around your work.

“I had to start learning other ways of making money, really scaling and trying to find ways to make money ‘while I slept’.”

Jill shares the 5 key ways to be trustful online with the intention of getting clients. In order to build a relationship based on trust and confidence you need to know what to share and what to say. People will buy from someone online once they feel they can rely on that person, this takes a while to build. These 5 factors will help to elucidate this kind of relationship.

“Trust, by nature, takes time.”

On this episode, Jill talks about finding your ideal client and creating a niche for your business, which sometimes can be confusing; especially if you are a beginner. When it comes to connecting with the right type of client Jill recommends focusing on the struggles of that person instead of their generic information like age or job. What are the obstacles that the person is facing? How can I relate to them? Are they the same as the ones I had when I started? These are the questions you should be asking when defining your ideal customer.

“If you work with everybody, you essentially are attracting nobody.”

As an online coach you may have some questions about the type of service you want to sell. Is it going to be personal customized coaching? Is group coaching a better option? When is the best time to try and implement both? In this episode, Jill explains the contrast between all these types of offers and programs and which one is a better fit for you, depending on your skills and audience.

“If you are a brand new online coach, often times you just need to get cash in your pocket.”

Social media nowadays can be overwhelming for an online business owner. How many times per week should I make a post? Do I need to show myself on stories all the time? Do I talk about my services or just my life in general? These are all questions answered by Jill on this week’s episode. First, you share answers when everyone has questions, then you open up about your own struggles and reasons why. Lastly, you tell people you can help them - professionally.

“Social media content should eventually drives sales. I know that often times we want to get more followers, we want to get more engagement, we want to get more likes on our posts. All that stuff is great but at the end of the day what is the most important metric?”

Does it feel overwhelming starting an online business and all of a sudden having to mark your presence on every social media platform? Well, you don’t have to. In this week’s episode, Jill shares the 4 big dial-moving actions that you need to be paying attention to today. These 4 aspects – that should be your focus right now - will help you build a much more solid foundation for your business.

“You can create programs and products and courses all day long, but if you don’t have an audience of people who want to buy from you, and you haven’t cultivated that, you haven’t built a body of work, you haven’t cultivated those relationships and built that trust with those people, then they’re not going to buy.”

When you have an online brand and you are the face behind the business you might find it difficult to stand out from other professionals doing the same kind of business as you. In this episode, Jill explains that creating a unique blueprint is super important if you want to get traction and actually sell. Find out how you can create your own “work philosophy” and develop a personalized framework.

“Start with asking yourself: what are the things that I do with this client? What are some of my core philosophies? What do I consider the big dial movers?”

Hoop Jumping Content (or “freebie”) is an essential kind of content to have if you’re looking to expand your audience and make yourself visible. Also known as lead magnets, these sort of high value pieces of content are a great way to firstly warm up potential clients and, secondly, offer value before actually engaging them to buy from you. In this episode, Jill gives you the exact types of lead magnets you can come up with to build a mailing for your business.

“The goal of any lead magnet is to get your potential client a small quick win.”

When we come up with a new course, a new program, or a different product to launch often times we feel insecure about it. The scared mindset and expectation that it’s not going to work – or it’s not going to sell – somehow calls for the same outcome. What we expect is what ends up happening. In this episode, Jill shares the mentality behind sales and why you should turn your insecurities into prompt action.

“If you’re creating an offer, a new coaching program, a new product, you got to think to yourself: ‘Why am I so excited about this?’”

When you promote your service online it’s easy to fall into the mindset that you need to get as many clients as possible, all at once, and with the same offer. When you create a more exclusive program to a more specific public, a part of your audience will relate easier, therefore stimulating a sense of connection. By meeting certain criteria, people feel picked and that’s a good thing! In this episode, Jill explains the concept of creating a super-niche 1:1 offer and how it can be beneficial.

“When it comes to 1:1 coaching, oftentimes this service is what we call evergreen.”

Staying in the game, trusting your capacity, and not giving up in the online business industry is the key to being successful. However, what if we don’t get any traction ever? How do we maintain this mindset even when we feel that we are not getting any traction? In this episode, Jill shares some truths about how to manage your expectations surrounding your business and how to ready yourself for the ups & downs.

“99.9% of the people will not open up their coaching for the very first time and be absolutely overwhelmed. So, trust yourself!”

Integrity and transparency are two of the most important values when running a business. Are you delivering for your clients what was actually agreed (like all-day access or weekly calls)? Do you operate from a place of honesty? How are you showing up when it comes to real numbers or real offers? In this episode, Jill explains the concept of entrepreneurial integrity, how to set boundaries in your biz, and how to always manage it with truth.

“Integrity to me in this industry is everything. And what integrity is, it's very simply, just following through on your word; having some sort of lines in the sand; being principled in some way, shape, or form; being honest.”
